Mom vs. Dad

I hear on a daily basis how much Addison looks like Duke and I have to admit that I think she does also. However, my side of the family always comments on how much she looks like me when I was a baby (and I secretly LOVE this because I don't hear it often).

So...what do you guys think???

It's a Zoo at NaNa and Pop-Pop's

Addison is starting to have her own little petting zoo over at my parents house and she loves it! At the beginning of the summer, we had a turtle that laid eggs in our backyard and we managed to find three of the babies. They were about the size of a quarter when we first found them and we have had so much fun watching them eat and grow over the past few months. They really do have the cutest personalities! We're not quite sure what we're going to do with them when they get bigger but for now they sure are cute! Then about a month ago, my Mom rescued two parakeets and Addison has named them Dora and Diego. It is so funny to watch her with them! Mom took her to Petsmart and let her pick out toys for them and I honestly think they came home with the entire store. I've never seen two birds that have more toys in their cage! Although, I would expect nothing less from my Mom. The birds are wonderful with Addison and she has really enjoyed loving on them. I'm not sure if the birds feel the same way or not but they tolerate her well. Every time she goes over there, she pulls EVERY one of the toys out of the cage (one by one) and shows it to the birds. She puts it right up to their face and ask, "You like this one??" It's so funny! So between turtles, birds, deer, doggies and fish, Addison is turning into quite the animal lover. I LOVE it!

Yes...they were smaller than this when we found them!

Hope you guys are having as eventful of a summer as we are! Who knows what we'll come from the beach with!

Fun with Friends!

Nick, Laura and Mason came back last weekend for a quick visit so we all got together for a cookout at Kris and Jessica's. It is so much fun to watch the kids play together and think back on how far we have all come together. We are so blessed to have such wonderful friends in our lives.

Proud Mommies...

Bambi lives at NaNa & Pop-Pop's House!

Since the beginning of summer, Addison has had a new favorite movie...Bambi! It is so funny to watch her while she is watching it. She thinks Thumper is the best character ever and laughs so hard at him that most of the time she gets the hiccups.

You can imagine her pure delight when she learned that Bambi lived at NaNa & Pop-Pop's House! Mom and Dad have been feeding these deer for a while now and they visit every day right before the sun goes down. It's amazing how close to the house they will get and Addison thinks its the neatest thing that she can see Bambi in their backyard! What she doesn't understand is why they won't magically appear when she walks into the backyard and calls them! Guess we'll have to get NaNa to work on that part!

A few more photos!

These are from the 4th, but I just got them off Mom and Dad's camera and since I have very few photos where all of us are actually looking at the camera...I had to post! Plus, I just ADORE these photos of Addie and Dad - even Belle was worn out that day and cuddling with Dad. Too sweet!

Hope everyone is having a wonderful summer!

Weekend trip to the mountains!

On Thursday, Duke, Addison and I, loaded up the car and headed up to Jefferson, NC, to spend the weekend with Capt'n John and Nana Pat. We are so blessed to have them in our lives and always look forward to spending time with them.

The guys had a blast doing "guy stuff" and even managed to venture on a 11 mile long canoe ride. Needless to say, they were both quite tired when they got home.

Us girls, had a wonderful time playing baby dolls, coloring and enjoying the beautiful views and bunnies around their house. Addison wanted to hold the bunnies so badly and didn't understand why they wouldn't "come" to her when she called.

There weren't enough days in our trip and the time passed by too quickly. We can't wait to see them again when they meet us at the beach in August!

4th of July Fun!

We enjoyed a wonderful 4th of July with great friends and family. Hard to believe this was our (4th) Fourth of July in this house. Oh how our celebrations have changed but not the people! Although we did miss James and the Short's this year! We spent a great day at the pool and Mom and Dad came over later to join us!

Trying to get 2 babies and a toddler to look at the camera = impossible!

Anna Kate's 1st time in the pool...

Look how cute Landon is?!?

Look at the Dad's! Poor Duke was fried by this point so he didn't make the picture!
